Material reuse shapes adaptable Shoreditch workspace
THISS Studio’s fit-out for SALT’s new Shoreditch base turns sustainability into a strategic design asset. By working almost entirely with reclaimed, repurposed and natural materials, the project cuts costs, reduces waste and creates a flexible, high-performance environment.
The space shifts seamlessly from daily operations to an events venue, using adaptable zoning, custom-built furniture from salvaged pieces, and soft partitions to maximise daylight and acoustics without permanent structures. Every design decision — from steel catering tables converted into desks to end-of-roll linen transformed into acoustic curtains — balances functionality with resourcefulness.
This approach shows how material constraints can drive inventive solutions, proving that sustainability can deliver both commercial value and a distinctive workplace identity.
