Ireland-based Armada Hotel has completed a €2.5 million refurbishment of Armada House in Spanish Point, County Clare, marking the conclusion of an extensive three-year transformation programme, Hospitality Ireland reported.

Originally built in the early nineteenth century, the house has served both as a landlord's home and a convent boarding school. Acquired by the Armada Hotel in July 2022, the 13-bedroom property has been transformed under the creative direction of Irish interior designer Suzie Mc Adam.

Located just 70 metres from the Armada Hotel, Armada House allows guests to move seamlessly between both properties. The interiors draw inspiration from the distinctive flora and fauna of the Burren, paired with deep Atlantic blues, to create a calm, layered aesthetic rooted in place.

John Burke, chief executive of Armada, said the company is delighted to reveal its bold luxury approach to five-star hospitality. "It is important to us to protect our identity while offering something new to guests, creating an experience that could only exist here at Armada," Burke said.

The three-year refurbishment included a complete redesign of guest bedrooms and suites, upgraded communal spaces and the introduction of enhanced amenities to deliver a premium experience.

Hand-painted murals by Michael Dillon, bespoke furniture created with John O'Connell Furniture, and works by leading Irish artists create interiors that aim to offer an ambience that feels both cosmopolitan and deeply connected to the west coast of Ireland.

Mc Adam said the project feels deeply personal. "Being immersed in the colours, textures, and wild rhythm of the west coast shaped my earliest sense of beauty," Mc Adam said. "That energy and character can be seen in every detail throughout the house, from the wallpaper to the lighting."
