Industry NewsVictor Pizza Co relocates to new Coatbridge facility following £3 million investment and fit-out grant
Scottish pizza manufacturer The Victor Pizza Co has relocated to a new 26,000 sq ft production facility in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, following a £3 million investment that has significantly increased the company's production capacity and created 17 new jobs in the area.
North Lanarkshire Council reports that the relocation was supported in part by a £20,000 grant from the council's Business Growth Fund, directed towards the conversion and fit-out of office and staff space and a visitor reception area at the new premises.
The Victor Pizza Co is a second-generation, family-run business with roots dating back to the 1970s. Its product range spans own-brand pizza lines, school-compliant pizzas supplied to local authorities, and an Eat Balanced seaweed-based range distributed through major UK wholesalers. The majority of its volume moves through wholesale and food service channels across the Scottish, English and Irish markets.
The primary driver behind the move was the need for a larger, more suitable site to support continued growth across the Scottish chip shop market and the broader wholesale sector. The new facility provides the operational platform to improve production efficiencies and scale output in line with commercial demand.
"This move marks a huge milestone for our business. It's a significant investment in our future and gives us the platform to grow while staying true to who we are as a family business," said Anne Marie Cairney, Co-founder of The Victor Pizza Co. "Coatbridge has been a fantastic place for us to land, and working closely with North Lanarkshire Council and Routes to Work means we can create real opportunities locally, particularly for young people coming into the industry."
The business is already working with North Lanarkshire's Working and Routes to Work programme to generate employment pathways for local people, with a particular focus on young people entering the food manufacturing sector.
Councillor Alex McVey, Convener of the Enterprise and Fair Work Committee, welcomed the arrival of the business. "It's fantastic to see such a dynamic business come to the area bringing its passion and enthusiasm, as well as new job opportunities," McVey said.
North Lanarkshire Council's Business Growth Fund offers grants of up to £20,000 towards capital expenditure and infrastructure costs for businesses operating across a range of qualifying sectors including food and drink manufacturing, construction, life sciences and renewable energy.
