RECOM Fire Solutions opens Greater Manchester distribution hub in six-figure expansion

UK passive fire protection specialist RECOM Fire Solutions has opened a new 2,500 sq m (27,000 sq ft) warehouse and office facility at Trafford Park in Greater Manchester, consolidating several smaller north west operations into a single centralised hub as part of a six-figure investment to strengthen its specialist division.

International Fire and Safety Journal reports that the new facility on the Westbrook Estate will increase storage capacity, improve logistics and enhance stock management across the company's passive fire protection operations, which serve clients in the education, healthcare, residential, defence and facilities management sectors.

The Trafford Park building is owned and managed by Indurent, which refurbished the site prior to RECOM Fire Solutions taking occupation. Nexus Storage Solutions installed the warehouse racking as part of the fit-out. The investment also includes an expanded vehicle fleet to support project delivery across the region.

Trafford Park is an ideal location, as it's highly accessible and close to our group headquarters in Salford Quays. The consolidation of multiple smaller facilities into a single site is expected to reduce the number of journeys required to support projects across the north west, contributing to the company's broader efforts to lower its operational carbon footprint.

The Trafford Park hub follows the opening earlier this year of a RECOM Fire Solutions base at Fort Dunlop in Birmingham, which supports projects across the Midlands, the M6 corridor and into the south west, indicating a structured approach to building regional operational capacity across the UK.

RECOM Fire Solutions currently employs around 60 operatives working on projects nationwide. Its services span compartmentation surveys, fire door installation and remediation, fire stopping, intumescent paint application, overboarding and fire curtain installations. The company forms part of the wider RECOM Solutions group, which also provides project management consultancy and main contracting services.
