Microsoft planned data center in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, makes progress
Microsoft is expanding its data center footprint in Madrid, Spain.
The company's data center campus project in Alcalá de Henares has taken a step forward following the initial approval of the special construction plan by the local government board.
The plan, described as "a project of international relevance" by the city council, is expected to be definitively approved after a public information process in which interested parties may submit objections.
The purpose of the special plan is to adapt the urban planning regulations so that Microsoft can build the campus at number 15, Avenida de Madrid, in the Las Matillas industrial estate, since the plot has restrictions derived from industrial models planned at the end of the 1980s.
