Loftus Hall to undergo €3m refurbishment and fit out transformation

Loftus Hall, the historic Wexford property often described as Ireland’s most haunted house, has been acquired by Meath investor Patrick McDermott for €3m. The estate, spanning 63 acres, is planned to undergo a large-scale refurbishment and fit out programme, transforming it into a luxury hospitality destination.

The redevelopment will include restoration of the 28,568 sq ft main house, converting it into a 22-bedroom boutique hotel with modernised dining rooms, guest lounges, and contemporary interiors. Fit out works are expected to focus on high-quality materials, spatial reorganisation, and integration of up-to-date hospitality infrastructure.

Plans also call for the addition of 60 new bedrooms and eco pods, emphasising modular construction, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable design principles. Outdoor areas will be enhanced with natural swimming pools, spa zones, and landscaping, incorporating low-impact energy solutions and selective rewilding across the estate’s four-acre walled garden.

The project intends to leverage the estate’s microclimate for agritourism initiatives, including small-scale wine production and barley cultivation for a micro distillery. This combination of interior fit out and wider estate development will create multifunctional spaces that blend luxury hospitality with operational innovation.

All planned works aim to preserve the property’s heritage while introducing contemporary hotel standards. Fit out contractors will be required to integrate bespoke interiors with structural refurbishments, ensuring durability, aesthetic quality, and an elevated guest experience.
