Jumeirah closes Burj Al Arab Dubai for 18-month renovation preserving architectural masterpiece

UAE-based Jumeirah has closed the Burj Al Arab Dubai for approximately 18 months to undergo a full renovation, marking the first complete restoration since the 202-suite property opened in 1999, One Mile at a Time reported.

The hotel will undergo a carefully phased and thoughtful restoration programme, designed to safeguard its legacy for generations to come. The conservation of the architectural masterpiece will see its distinctive interior décor enhanced with the same attention to detail as preserving a work of art.

The renovation will be led by interior architect Tristan Auer, with a mission to preserve Burj Al Arab's cultural essence whilst modernising the property.

Thomas Meier, CEO of Jumeirah, said the hotel is far more than an architectural landmark. The Burj Al Arab Dubai is the crown jewel of Jumeirah's portfolio and is easily one of the world's most recognisable hotels. It is often referred to as the world's only seven-star hotel, though the hotel does not make this claim.
