J Carey Design has been named winner of the Fit Out Sub-Contractor of the Year award at the recently concluded Fit Out Awards UK 2026, recognised for an impressive year of growth, increasingly complex project delivery, and the kind of operational maturity that comes from sustained investment in governance, safety, and client relationships across the commercial interior fit out sector.

The specialist joinery subcontractor has built its reputation through consistent delivery of complex interior fit out packages across commercial, workplace, and public sector environments, and the past twelve months marked a significant step forward in the scale and ambition of that work. Securing its largest contracts to date while maintaining an exemplary safety record and completing major projects for repeat clients demonstrated a business with both the capability and the credibility to compete at the highest level of the UK fit out industry.

ISO certifications, strong health and safety performance, and continued investment in apprenticeships point to a contractor building for the long term, ensuring that its growth is supported by the structural foundations that make consistent, high-quality delivery possible across complex commercial interiors.

Long-standing client relationships and a growing proportion of repeat business further underline the trust J Carey Design has earned within the sector, reflecting a subcontractor whose work speaks for itself across project after project.

Judges were clear in their assessment. "Strong governance, ISO certifications and an excellent safety record provide further evidence of a mature and well managed business. The move into larger contracts, supported by repeat business, long standing client relationships and continued investment in apprenticeships, demonstrates a contractor with a strong foundation for continued growth," the panel stated.

The Fit Out Sub-Contractor of the Year category recognises subcontractors that have delivered key aspects of a top-class fit out project completed over the past twelve months, assessed across project quality, organisational highlights and achievements, challenges overcome, and the strength of client testimonials and supporting evidence.

The Fit Out Awards UK 2026 ceremony took place on 24 September 2026 at the Park Plaza London Riverbank.
