Industry NewsHilton completes $100 million renovation of Ka La'i Waikīkī Beach as LXR brand expands Pacific presence
US hospitality group Hilton has completed a $100 million (€92 million) renovation of Ka La'i Waikīkī Beach, LXR Hotels and Resorts, in Honolulu, Hawai'i, repositioning the 38-storey landmark as one of the most refined residential-style retreats in the Pacific and marking a significant milestone for the group's top-tier luxury brand.
Travelling for Business reports that the redesign, finalised on 30 June 2026, was delivered across a phased programme that kept the property fully operational throughout, covering all 462 guest rooms and suites, the lobby, pool, dining venues and spa.
The interior refurbishment was led by award-winning Bryan O'Sullivan Studio, with support from Brooklyn-based Guerin Glass Architects. Guest rooms and suites have been reimagined with gourmet kitchens fitted with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, Italian marble bathrooms and expansive views across the Pacific Ocean toward Diamond Head.
Three new dining concepts have been introduced as part of the repositioning. The Kini Room offers refined island-influenced cuisine, Muse Lounge pairs local craft cocktails with sunset views in an intimate setting, and Bloom Café and Restaurant brings an open-air, coastal sensibility to all-day dining with menus centred on local ingredients.
Wellness has been integrated as a core element of the property's renewed identity. Spa Ka La'i anchors the rejuvenation offer, complemented by curated experiences designed to connect guests with O'ahu's landscapes, culture and sense of place.
The 15-year-old property's transformation reflects growing demand among high-net-worth travellers for luxury hospitality that balances design refinement with a strong sense of local identity, a positioning increasingly central to the LXR brand's competitive differentiation within Hilton's broader portfolio.
The completion of Ka La'i's renovation reinforces Hilton's commitment to the Hawai'i luxury market at a moment when the Pacific islands continue to attract significant hospitality investment from international operators targeting affluent leisure and corporate travel segments.
