Gilbert-Ash profit soars amid busy project pipeline

Belfast-based construction and fit-out company Gilbert-Ash reported a more than four-fold increase in pre-tax profit last year, reaching almost £7 million, on revenue of £268 million for the year ending December 31, 2024.

The firm delivered a series of high-profile projects across the UK, including a £38 million Premier Inn in London’s Paddington, the £24 million Loveday Dementia Care Facility in Belgravia, a £29 million office refurbishment in Manchester, and a £24 million performing arts centre at Brighton College.

Gilbert-Ash’s 2025 order book remains strong, with major projects underway, including phase one works for US healthcare technology firm Epic’s campus in North Somerset and a significant refurbishment of RIBA’s Grade II listed London headquarters. The company also continues to receive industry recognition, including awards for work on the National Portrait Gallery in London and a place on The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list.

Managing Director Ray Hutchinson highlighted the firm’s resilience during challenging industry conditions, noting that the company’s focus on quality and people helped navigate economic headwinds. The recent transition to an employee ownership trust model further reinforces Gilbert-Ash’s long-term growth strategy and commitment to staff engagement.

Looking ahead, Gilbert-Ash plans to leverage its strong pipeline and sector expertise, maintaining momentum despite inflationary pressures, and positioning itself for continued expansion in the construction and fit-out market.
