Industry NewsCunningham hits 20-year milestone with half a billion in delivered projects
Irish construction company Cunningham has reached its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of expansion across fit-out, mission critical, life sciences, healthcare and residential sectors, with a project portfolio exceeding €500 million in total delivered value.
Building Ireland Magazine reports that the firm, established in 2006 by Tim and Joanne Cunningham as a family-run operation, now employs 280 people across offices in Ireland, Germany and the United Kingdom.
"Reaching 20 years in business is an incredible milestone for our company and one we are immensely proud of," said Tim Cunningham, Founder and CEO. "What started as a vision shared by Joanne and myself has grown into a thriving international business built on a can-do attitude, hard work, trust, respect and strong relationships."
Growth has been measured in successive commercial and technical breakthroughs. The company entered the healthcare sector in 2012 and moved into mission critical and life sciences in 2019, executing works at a major Leixlip facility alongside a €24 million residential development. A €40 million canal extension project followed in 2023, and its largest single contract to date Lynch's Lane, valued at €100 million was secured in 2025.
Cunningham launched its own safety brand, Care, Commit, Guard, in 2024, embedding health and safety governance as a formal company-wide priority rather than a compliance function.
The company's most recent international milestone is its expansion into Frankfurt, with further growth anticipated as it enters its third decade of operation. A strong forward pipeline and clear strategic direction underpin confidence in continued international scale.
