Centra unveils £1 million fit out across Belfast and Culcavy stores

Centra has completed a £1 million fit out across two Northern Ireland stores, modernising layouts and upgrading customer experiences. 

The Donegall Square West store in Belfast underwent a £530,000 refurbishment, while the Culcavy location received a £470,000 revamp.

The Belfast store, operated by retailer Peter Jez and supporting 17 jobs, now features a modern layout designed for seamless shopping. Enhancements include new hot delis, fresh sandwich and salad bars, and grab-and-go hot food counters.

Peter Jez commented on the transformation: “We’re thrilled to reveal the transformation of our Centra store right in the heart of Belfast. This transformation offers city centre workers and shoppers a brighter, more convenient experience, packed with quality, choice, good value and great service. Known for our excellent food-to-go options, we’ve made sure the new store delivers even more of what our customers love – fresh, tasty choice, ready when they are.”

David Higgins, retail sales director for Musgrave Northern Ireland, added: “Congratulations to our independent retail partner Peter on the newly refreshed store – a lot of work has gone into the transformation and it’s clear to see customers are impressed with the changes. It’s a real asset to the city centre, offering the height of convenience at great value.”

The Culcavy store, celebrating 20 years in the community and employing 26 staff, received similar upgrades aimed at modernising the customer journey and strengthening its role as a one-stop shop. Both sites incorporated energy-efficient LED lighting, high-grade freezers and refrigeration, and electronic shelf edge labels to reduce operational costs and carbon footprint.
