Industry NewsBurger King reopens refurbished O'Connell Street restaurant after seven-week fit-out
The Burger King restaurant at 9-11 Upper O'Connell Street in Dublin has reopened following a seven-week closure for major refurbishment works, delivering a fully updated interior and refreshed facilities at one of the capital's most prominent fast food locations.
Dublin Live reports that the branch, situated close to The Spire, underwent significant works to transform the look and operational layout of the store. Customers have reported positive reactions to the new interiors since reopening.
All staff who were redeployed to other Burger King outlets during the closure period have now returned to the O'Connell Street branch, ensuring continuity of employment across the refurbishment programme.
The reopened restaurant is serving Burger King's current summer menu, headlined by the new Smokey Bacon Deluxe range and the Crispy Bacon Chipotle. Opening hours run from 11am to 10pm Monday to Thursday, extending to 10am to midnight on Friday and Sunday, with late-night trading until 2.30am on weekends.
The O'Connell Street refurbishment is consistent with a broader pattern of investment by major quick-service restaurant operators in upgrading existing high-street locations rather than pursuing new-site expansion, particularly in city centre environments where footfall remains strong and brand presentation at landmark addresses carries commercial weight.
For Burger King, maintaining a contemporary and well-appointed presence on one of Dublin's busiest retail and leisure thoroughfares supports both customer retention and brand visibility in a competitive urban food and beverage market. The seven-week programme reflects the scale of works required to bring the interior up to the operator's current fit-out standard without a prolonged disruption to trading in the surrounding area.
The O'Connell Street branch joins a growing number of Irish hospitality and retail operators who have invested in refurbishment programmes in 2026 as footfall in Dublin city centre continues to recover and consumer expectations for in-store experience rise.
