Aramark Ireland Energy Solutions secures VISUAL Centre energy upgrade project in Carlow

Aramark Ireland Energy Solutions has been appointed by Carlow County Council to lead design development and project management of €1.5 million energy upgrades at the VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art and the George Bernard Shaw Theatre, the company announced.

Co-funded by the council and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, the project will deliver energy upgrades to increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions at VISUAL, including removal of all gas-fired heating systems, upgrades to building insulation, improved ventilation systems and installation of solar photovoltaic systems.

Jason Keegan, vice president of workplace solutions at Aramark Ireland, said the project allows the company to demonstrate how complex cultural buildings can successfully transition to a low carbon future. "By delivering both design and project management, we look forward to working closely with Carlow County Council and SEAI to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for the community."

Local leaders have highlighted the importance of this investment for both climate action and the long-term sustainability of cultural facilities. Carlow County Council has emphasised the VISUAL project will demonstrate practical, low carbon alternatives to traditional fossil fuel systems and help deliver on the county's climate action plan.

The appointment represents an important milestone for Aramark Ireland Energy Solutions, reinforcing the team's capability in delivering impactful, future-focused solutions for public sector partners.

The project will transition the cultural facility away from fossil fuel dependency whilst maintaining operational and aesthetic standards.
